Thank you Feld Entertainment for bringing some Disney magic to Vancouver!! If it wasn’t for Feld producing Disney On Ice shows, Vancouver would only have the local Disney Stores to get their Disney fix. While I love the Disney Stores, having a full Disney entertainment production come to our city every year, is like having Disneyland itself drop by for one special night! This year, Feld brought us Disney On Ice Let’s Party! which was truly a huge party on ice!!
Disney On Ice isn’t just an ice show, it is an entire experience that has kids and adults alike sitting on the edge of their seats with excitement and anticipation to see which character will come out next. Our family has gone to the last 7 Disney On Ice shows to come to Vancouver, and our night always begins with a rainbow snow cone in a special mug. This has turned into a tradition of ours and we still have our awesome Disney character mugs from every show we’ve been to! Of course, there is a variety of merchandise you can get at the show, all of which is of the quality you’d expect from Disney.
This year’s Disney On Ice – Let’s Party! show was one of the best ones yet! There were so many characters that even Grumpy wouldn’t be able to hold back a smile. I don’t want to give away the entire show, but each segment is tied to a different celebration which all started with an “Un-Birthday” staring Alice and other characters from Alice in Wonderland.
Mickey then steals the show with some magic, bringing the famous mops to life as he re-lives his time in Fantasia! And yes… there are actually magical brooms flying in the air! Although our kids haven’t ever seen the movie Fantasia, they were mesmerized with the wonderful choreography and fantastic production elements.
One of the most fun parts of the whole show was the Halloween Celebration featuring Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas, who invites a few famous villains like Jafar, Captain Hook, Cruella Deville, Maleficent and other witches. Pumpkins, spiderwebs and some zombie style characters made for just the right amount of halloween fun for all ages without being too scary for younger ones. My 4 year old loved it!
Now there’s no way a Disney show would be complete without a bit of a love story. The Valentine’s Day Celebration featured Minnie Mouse and the Fairy Godmother who helped to grant a special wish. Of course… I shouldn’t tell you what that wish was and who Minnie’s special prince was. 🙂 Minnie was joined by Princes and Princesses that skated with just the right balance of thrilling and technical choreography, as well as precision pairs-skating that included lifts and even a Neck Spin which is only something that can be attempted by the most highly skilled skaters. It is obvious that the cast are an experienced and amazingly talented group that are passionate about what they do as they make every effort to make their audiences smile.
Other celebrations included visits to Japan and China, as well as a Luau with fire on ice and a bit of surfing fun! Really, go see the show! I don’t want to spoil any surprises.
The Grand Finale brought back some classic Disney characters such as Woody, Jessie, Buzz and others from Toy Story, along with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and this Goofy looking Santa Claus! The night truly ended with a bang with a spectacular closing number complete with some magic, fireworks and snow!
The Disney on Ice Let’s Party! show was absolutely fantastic! Our kids truly enjoyed the show and are already talking about next year, and I would wholeheartedly recommend going with your family when the show comes to a city near you!
